Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers were both too lightly tested this week to develop any market trend. Feeder quality this week was mostly plain to average. Demand for feeders was mostly good. A large portion of the feeder offering was comprised of fall and winter born calves. Some sets were weaned 60 days while others sold straight off the cow. Market activity was mostly moderate to active today. Weigh up cows comprised a majority of the offering this week. Demand was mostly moderate to good demand for moderate offerings. Demand for slaughter cows was mostly moderate. Packers pick around to try to find cows to fit slaughter cow buying orders. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady to 3.00 higher on all classes in a narrow comparison. Feeding cow demand was good to very good again this week which kept most prices mostly over slaughter ticket prices. Feeding cows sold fully steady. Quality this week was average to very attractive. Weigh up conditions were average to above average again this week. Many cows continue to come off grass and are mostly empty as a result. Slaughter bulls sold on good demand this week as additional packer buyers were in the stands actively buying bulls for harvest. Slaughter bulls sold mostly 1.00 to 3.00 higher in a narrow comparison. Bull quality was average to very attractive this week and slightly better than last week. Young cows suitable to feed or rebreed sold on very good demand for light to moderate offerings. Most offerings sold with steady undertones. Quality was mostly average to very attractive today. Very little difference in price was seen between 2 and 3 year old cows which had lost calves as demand for rebreed and recip cows remains very good.
