Compared to last week: Steer calves under 450 lbs sold mostly 10.00-15.00 lower, 450-549 lbs sold generally steady, steers over 550 lbs sold steady to 5.00 higher. Heifer calves under 450 lbs sold mostly 5.00-8.00 lower, 450-549 lbs sold generally steady, heifers over 550 lbs sold mostly 5.00 higher in a narrow compairson. Quality today was mixed from plain to attractive. Demand was mostly moderate to good for moderate offerings. Buyers were willing to buy calves up to 550 lbs for steers and 525 lbs for heifers to send to grass. larger consignments of calves sold on stronger demand than smaller packages this week. The crowd this week was a mix of order buyers and farmer feeders again this week. Farmer feeder demand remains good this week. Market activity was mostly moderate to active this week with lots of participation seen from both order buyers and farmer feeders. Weigh up cows sold on mostly light to moderate demand and heavy offerings. Packers showed mostly light demand for slaughter cows this week. Feeding cows were met with mostly light to moderate demand with better demand noticed from private feeders than from packers this week. Packers have been buying cows to put away for the upcoming holidays for the past three weeks and with the holiday week this week packers showed significantly lighter demand for all cows. Slaughter cows sold mostly 5.00 lower on breaking cows, and 3.00-6.00 lower on boning and lean cows. Feeding cows sold mostly 2.00-4.00 lower on high quality cows suitable to feed to premium white, while thin short term feeding cows sold mostly 4.00-6.00 lower. Slaughter bulls sold steady to weak as feeding bull buyers pushed packers to give near steady money on bulls. Cow quality this week was mixed from plain to attractive. Demand did improve slightly late in the sale as buyers pushed to fill loads and load lot offerings were offered. Weigh up conditions were mixed this week from below to above average. Weigh up conditions improved as the sale progressed. Young age sold on mostly light demand this week. Quality was mostly plain to average this week. Young age cows sold 10.00-12.00 lower on all offerings.
