Compared to last week: Steer calves sold mostly 3.00-5.00 higher, except 500-549 lbs which sold steady to 3.00 lower. Heifer calves sold mostly steady to 5.00 higher. Yearling heifers sold steady to firm in a narrow comparison. Yearling quality was average to attractive, while calf quality was mostly attractive. Package sizes were larger this week as heavier supplies are starting to be seen. Demand was mostly moderate to good for both calves and yearlings. The best demand seen this week was for light calves under 450 lbs of both sexes which could be developed into yearlings. Calves with two rounds of vaccinations sold with a premium to calves with only spring shots. Market activity this week was mostly active as a large crowd was seen with both order buyers and rancher actively bidding on offerings. Weigh up cows sold on mostly light to moderate demand for moderate to heavy offerings. Feeding buyers showed mostly moderate demand early in the sale but demand lightened as the sale progressed. Private cow feeders purchased many sets of thin cows early in the sale to preg-check and turn out on corn stalks. Packers showed mostly moderate demand for feeding cows but were not as aggressive as last week as supplies were much heavier this week. Feeding cows sold mostly 3.00-5.00 lower. Slaughter cows sold mostly 4.00-5.00 lower as demand for slaughter cows was lighter this sale. Cow and bull quality was average to very attractive. Weigh up conditions were average to above average for buyers this week. Slaughter bulls sold unevenly steady. Packers opted to feed most of the bull offering which made comparisons difficult. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed sold mostly 5.00-10.00 higher. Quality was mostly attractive this week.
