Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers were all too lightly tested either this week or last week to establish an accurate market trend, however steady to lower undertones were noticed. A few load lots were seen this week and these offerings were of mostly attractive quality. Demand for load lots was mostly good. Outside of consigned offerings, quality was mostly plain to average and demand for these offerings was mostly light to moderate. Grass cattle demand continues to be good to very good. CME positions have fallen sharply over the last several days, however demand remains strong for high quality cattle. Market activity this week was mostly active with a good crowd on hand actively bidding on offerings. Weigh up cows sold on mostly good demand for light to moderate offerings. Packers showed need for cows to both feed and send to harvest. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady to 1.00 higher on all offerings. Feeding cows sold mostly steady to 2.00 higher. Feeding buyers were active in bidding on offerings again this week as many pushed lower dressing cows, which packers had been sending to slaughter, back to feed. Feeding buyers continue to be the driving force behind the market again this week. Slaughter bulls sold generally steady in a narrow comparison. Weigh up conditions were mixed this week. Many sets of cows were pushing heavy amounts of fill this week. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed sold on mostly moderate demand this week. These offerings sold mostly 5.00-8.00 lower.
