Compared to last week: Steer calves under 800 lbs sold steady to 5.00 higher, steers over 800 lbs were not well compared. Heifer calves under 500 lbs sold sharply higher, heifers over 500 lbs sold steady to 5.00 higher. Quality this week was average to attractive and significantly higher than last week. Many sets of one iron home raised calves were on offer this week. The best demand was for cattle suitable to run on grass this summer. Demand overall was moderate to good, with very good demand seen at times. Some sets of weaned backgrounded cattle were showing some flesh this week, however these offerings sold on good demand as quality was very attractive. A large buyer pool was on hand for todays sale and market activity was mostly active as several buyers were active in bidding on offerings. Weigh up cows sold on good to very good demand for light to moderate offerings. Packer buyers showed very good demand for all cows on offer. Packers dipped all the way into the young cow offering looking for cows to fill slaughter needs. Slaughter cows sold mostly 4.00-8.00 higher compared to last weeks light test. Slaughter bulls sold mostly 5.00-6.00 higher in a narrow comparison. Young age cows suitable to feed or rebreed were too lightly tested to trend last week, however steady undertones were noticed. Quality this week was mostly average.
