Compared to last week: The best test for feeder steers was for 850-899 lbs yearlings which sold mostly 6.00 higher. All other weights of yearling steers were too lightly tested to trend, however higher undertones were noticed. Yearling heifers 800-1,049 lbs sold mostly 2.00-5.00 higher, with instances of 7.00 seen at times. Demand was moderate to good on mostly light to moderate offerings. Quality this week was average to attractive. Offerings were coming off grass and in mostly light flesh. Weigh up conditions were mostly average. Buyer participation was better this sale as buyers were more active and aggressive as they bid on offerings. Market activity was active as a result. Weigh up cows sold on mostly light demand for light offerings. Packers opted to send all purchases to harvest this week as cow quality was mostly plain and lower than last week. Many cows had freshly weaned calves and were still carrying large bags. Additionally, cows were in mostly thin condition. Fleshy cows continue to sale with the best demand, however offerings were limited. Feeding cows were too lightly tested this week to develop any market trend. Most buyers passed on offerings as quality was plain. Slaughter bulls sold mostly 3.00-4.00 lower in a narrow comparison. Bulls were not as attractive as last week and were lower in quality as well. Young age cows suitable to re-breed were too lightly tested to develop any market trend.
