Compared to last week, steers sold uneven mostly from 5.00 lower to 5.00 higher with the gain on the very top end quality weighing 500-600 lbs. Heifers sold mostly 5.00-7.00 lower. A nice offering of yearling steers was on hand but there haven't been any recent comparable sales for a trend. The overall trend of the feeder cattle market is definitely lower this week as the futures contracts have tumbled lower, cash fed cattle are trending lower and corn is surging higher. The calf and yearling market held up pretty well though and demand was moderate to mostly good, as is usual the higher quality cattle saw better demand. Supply was heavy as the drought continues and another large run of cows made their way to town. Slaughter cows sold steady to 3.00 lower.
