Compared to last week, steer calves under 550 lbs sold 3.00-7.00 lower following last weeks higher market and very active trade for that weight range, heavier weights traded steady to 4.00 lower. Heifers sold steady to 5.00 lower. Demand was moderate to good for a heavy supply. A nice run of calves and yearlings was offered but the quality was a bit more uneven than last week. Also, with the heat on the un-weaned calves did see more of a discount than in previous weeks. Farmers are busy in the field as a much needed stretch of dry weather has allowed for haying and beans going in the ground. Slaughter cows sold 2.00-4.00 higher.
