Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady to 5.00 lower with the overall quality not as attractive as the last several weeks. Also, more un-weaned cattle were brought to town which prevented reaching those top end prices obtained last week. The heat continues, but a much needed rain Monday night relieved the stress on the grass and crops for awhile with most locals reporting 1-2 inches. Supply was moderate to heavy and demand was mostly moderate, good for 500-650 lb heifers and light for a few packages of bulls with the weather not conducive to working cattle. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady.
