Compared to the last sale two weeks ago, steers sold 3.00 to 5.00 lower, spots up to 8.00 lower, and heifers 1.00 to 3.00 lower. Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 higher. Mostly small strings of calves on offer, a mix of weaned with shots and straight off the cow. The beef supply chain is without a doubt broken as market ready cattle continue to back up and boxed beef prices soar to unbelieveable levels. Many grocery chains are now limiting the number of meat protein items consumers can purchase, bringing the situation into the national news but unfortunately the cattlemen's plight is rarely mentioned in those stories. Supply and demand moderate.
