Compared to the last sale two weeks ago, Tuesday's market was pretty uneven. Most weights of steers and heifers sold 4.00 to 5.00 lower, spots 10.00 lower, but some loads of 9 weight steers trading 5.00 to 8.00 higher. Slaughter cows 6.00 to 10.00 higher. Pretty active trade for the yearling cattle with several buyers in pursuit. Labor shortages and plant closures have greatly reduced kill levels the past couple weeks and brough fat trade to a halt, with many feeders unable to get a bid. One bright spot has been consumer demand which has remained strong through all the recent turmoil. Supply moderate to heavy, demand moderate.
