Compared to last week, lightly tested feeder steers and heifers were steady to 4.00 lower. Steer calves were 3.00-6.00 lower and heifer calves were 3.00-6.00 higher. Demand was moderate on a light supply. Producers following a good pre-conditioning program of castration, weaning 60+ days and two or more rounds of shots were rewarded for their efforts with those calves selling steady to higher. The largest draft of the day was 73 hd. of 624 lb. mixed heifers which sold for 367.00/cwt. One stick-out draft was 29 hd. of 691 lb. heifers which brought 376.00/cwt. The isolated light rains across the region, last night, were not enough to provide any drought relief. Cattle futures traded mostly lower on Tuesday while crop futures traded higher.
