Compared to last week, feeder steers sold 4.00-8.00 lower with feeder heifers not well tested. Steer calves under 700 lbs. sold steady to 8.00 lower with the exception of three weights which were 5.00-6.00 higher. Heifer calves under 700 lbs. sold 5.00-10.00 lower. Demand was moderate on a moderate supply. The largest draft of the day was 122 head of 763 lbs. mixed steers that brought 262.25/cwt. Cattle futures continued their downward trends on Tuesday after closing sharply lower on Monday. The USDA semi-annual Cattle Inventory, which came out Friday, had inventories down one percent for most categories. This mostly neutral report was overshadowed by the uncertainty in the import/export market.
