Compared to last week, there were too few head in the offering to make an adequate comparison, however undertones were steady to weak. Demand was moderate on a very light supply. Supplies and demand were both lower due to Excessive Heat Warnings which are forecasted through Thursday night, with heat index values up to 120 degrees. Quality was below average with several small packages of plain, short-weaned calves in the offering. The USDA's Cattle on Feed Report released Friday was bullish with Inventories down 2 percent, Placements down 8 percent and Marketings down 5 percent. The cattle futures responded by being sharply higher on Monday with some downward correction on Tuesday.
