Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers traded 3.00-6.00 higher with spots 9.00 higher. Demand was good on a moderate to heavy supply, which included a 4 pot-load draft of 9 weight steers. Steers averaged 657 lbs at $142.14/cwt while heifers averaged 601 lbs at $131.45/cwt. With gains the past week on fed cattle prices and beef boards, there is renewed optimism around the ring. However this optimism is reserved only for long-time weaned and vaccinated calves.
