Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves traded uneven from 4.00 lower to 4.00 higher. Yearlings calves were steady to firm. Demand was good on a moderate supply. The quality of the offering was average at best and well below a week ago. The USDA's Cattle on Feed Report, released last week, reported Inventories were 2 percent higher, Placement 9 percent higher and Marketings 7 percent higher than a year ago. The futures boards reacted to this mostly bullish report closing unevenly steady to lower.
