Ozarks Regional Stockyard started the New Year with a Wean/Vac Special Feeder sale on Friday, January 3. Compared to the most recent feeder special on December 3, feeder steers and heifers sold 2.00-5.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves under 700 lbs. sold steady to 5.00 higher with peewee calves 10.00-15.00 higher. Demand was good on a heavy supply. The quality was exceptional, even for a Wean/Vac special. Strings of longtime weaned and vaccinated black hided calves arrived throughout the day and into the evening hours making it the largest sale in over ten years for ORS. Many producers had put off marketing calves into the new year and numbers were boosted by the forecast of Winter weather moving into the area this weekend.
