Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to last week's light run, slaughter cows were 2.00-3.00 higher and slaugher bulls sold mostly steady. Demand was good on a light supply of replacement cattle and a moderate supply of slaughter animals. The top slaughter bull sold for 150.00/cwt. and the top slaughter cow brought 125.00/cwt. The top bred cow brought 1550.00 while the top pair sold for 2150.00. The USDA's Cold Storage Report, released last week, reported total pounds of beef in freezers were up 2 percent from the previous month but down 18 percent from last year.
