As filed

Compared to last week, steers sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher and heifers steady. Slaughter cows 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Nearly all the cattle on offer this week were weaned and most in pretty good condition. Those carrying a little flesh weren't docked too hard as interest in grass cattle starts to return. Heavy cattle were in pretty short supply and met with light demand as feedlots start to back up with slaughter ready cattle that can't catch a trip to the processor. Wholesale beef prices are surging, pressuring retailers to stretch product or raise prices, while the cattle feeder continues to take it on the chin. Supply light, demand moderate.
