Compared to last week, steer calves under 550 lbs sold mostly steady and calves and yearlings over 550 lbs sold 5.00-10.00 higher with spots 15.00 higher. Heifer calves under 575 lbs sold 15.00-25.00 higher and yearling heifers sold 3.00-10.00 higher. Cash fed cattle broke out higher last Friday, surprising the market and rallying futures, bolstering the calf and feeder market. The warmer weather will get the grills fired up and help beef demand, and with the sun shining and the grass greening up it's an exciting time to be in the cattle business. Supply was moderate and demand was good.
