Compared to last week, steer calves under 650 lbs sold 3.00-8.00 higher with heavier weights steady to 3.00 higher. Heifer calves under 500 lbs sold 10.00-15.00 higher on a very competitive market, heavier weights of heifers traded steady to 3.00 higher. Buyers were aggressive to gather up cattle this week as the thought of warmer temperatures and grass gets closer. Also, the quality of the cattle was exceptional and there were a few extra buyers in the seats to push top prices. Demand was very good as the local cash market has kept chugging along despite the negative tone of the futures board. Supply was heavy. Slaughter cows sold steady to 3.00 lower.
