Compared to the last sale three weeks ago, steer calves under 650 lbs traded 5.00-10.00 higher and heifer calves under 550 lbs traded 5.00-15.00 higher; heavier weights steady to firm. Demand was good to very good as buyers were ready to purchase spring grazing calves and were aggressive in doing so. Supply was heavy following the holiday break and the quality was very good. Fed cattle have continued to gain a dollar or two each week for awhile now and demand for beef is good, supporting the feeder cattle market. An additional 400 head of slaughter cows were not reported this week due to the heavy supply of feeder cattle.
