Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to the last reported sale three weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers 6.00-20.00 higher with greatest advance on light steers and bulls under 500 lbs. Slaughter cows 8.00-12.00 higher. Demand very good. Supply light. Feeder offering included several high quality consignments weighing 650-850 lbs including 66 head of 789 lb steers @ 288.75/cwt. Receipts were reduced by the muddy conditions throughout the area although available feeder numbers in the country are thought to be pretty tight. There is increased optimism in the market so far this week with factors likely including the better weather, stronger futures and the fact that there just aren't enough feeders to go around.
