Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to the previous auction from two weeks ago, only a few weight classes lightly tested with steers and heifers 3.00-5.00 lower with instances up to 10.00 lower on some of the smaller packages of calves. Live and feeder futures locked down limit all day on news of the fire at the Tyson plant near Garden City, Kansas. Corn prices also down the limit Monday thanks to USDA's prediction of a much larger corn crop than anybody expected, and this should help support the feeder market someday.
