Compared to the last sale three weeks ago, steer and heifer calves weighing 400-700 lbs sold mostly 20.00-40.00 higher, three pot loads of 850-900 lbs steers traded 8.00-10.00 higher and two pot loads of 915 lb steers sold with a higher undertone. Demand was very good on a heavy offering of feeders. Buyers came back from the Christmas/New Years break ready to purchase cattle and paid some very impressive prices to own them but overall the quality on calves and yearlings ran very deep with the top quality calves especially 5 and 6 weight steers being sought after with buyers aggressive to own them. Stick out sales included 59 steers 512 lbs at 540.00, 34 steers 616 lbs at 455.00, 120 steers 886 lbs at 356.00, 120 steers 915 lbs at 351.50 with 93 heifers weighing 614 lbs at 402.25. Slaughter cows sold steady to firm, with spots 4.00 higher on the high dressing cows.
