Compared to last week, steer calves weighing 450-600 lbs sold mostly 12.00-18.00 higher, with 600-700 lbs trading 6.00-15.00 higher and the best test over 700 lbs were the pot loads of 900-925 lb steers selling 11.00 higher than last week's pot loads with two loads off the same consignment and similar weights all other yearlings over 700 lbs sold with a higher undertone. Heifer calves weighing 450-600 lbs sold 15.00-20.00 higher, spots 25.00 higher with 600-650 lbs trading 10.00-15.00 higher, over 650 lbs were lightly tested. The market continues with extremely good demand and buyers very aggressive to own cattle as the feeder market continues to grow a stronger set of legs each week. Several stick out sales included the pot loads of 900-926 lb steers at 279.10-279.35, pot load 866 lbs at 289.50 and pot load steers 786 lbs at 295.25. Last week's fed cattle market saw prices in the South mostly at 210.00 and in the Northern Plains 214.00-215.00, with dressed prices at 335.00 all record highs. Cattle on Feed Report on Friday showed double digit declines on Placements which is very rare, 18 percent below year ago at 82 percent with average estimates at 85.6 percent. CME Cattle Futures on Monday, Live Cattle sold off and closed lower with Feeder Cattle having slight gains on the front two months and lower on the back months possibly feeling a little stretched after reaching new highs. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady.
