Compared to last week's very active market, a lighter offering of steer calves weighing 450-500 lbs sold mostly steady with 500-550 lbs on a lighter offering selling steady to 10.00 lower on last week's highs, steer calves weighing 550-600 lbs sold steady with 600-800 lbs trading mostly 10.00-15.00 lower. Feeder heifers on a lighter offering weighing 400-600 lbs sold mostly 10.00-20.00 lower, with 600-650 lbs 6.00-8.00 lower and a pot load of 667 lb heifers traded 8.00 higher than a pot load of similar weight last week. Demand still remains good on a moderate offering. The market here at Callaway over the last several weeks has been incredibly high on calves and even though the CME Feeder Cattle futures closed on Monday with triple digit gains, last weeks major sell-off on the CME Feeder Cattle futures is still hard to ignore along with lower fed cattle trade last week and snow in the forecast for midweek had Monday's market coming back down to earth somewhat. Several stick out sales included 63 head steers weighing 553 lbs 356.00, pot load steers weighing 664 lbs 307.00, pot load steers weighing 780 lbs at 277.35 and pot load heifers weighing 667 lbs at 281.25. Slaughter cows on a light test sold steady.
