Compared to last week, steer calves under 550 lbs were lightly tested, with 550-650 lbs selling steady to 3.00 lower, 650-800 lbs sold steady and yearling steers and heifers over 850 lbs sold with a higher undertone with no recent test. Feeder heifers weighing 450-550 lbs sold mostly steady on comparable weights, with heifers weighing 550-700 lbs not well tested. Slaughter cows sold steady to firm. Monday's offering included more calves weighing 500-650 lbs carrying flesh and selling with moderate demand. Best demand was on three pot loads of big yearlings weighing over 850 lbs and 700-750 lbs steers. Most of the grain and commodity markets on Monday closed lower as the Stock Market closed over 500 points lower in a wave of selling.
