Compared to last week, this week hasn't followed the typical pattern we've seen in the cattle market all summer, where trends have mostly been upward. With a slightly plainer offering and mostly new crop, unweaned calves on the market this week-combined with a sharp drop of $9.50 on the feeder board today-buyers were a bit more cautious. Feeder steers saw losses of $15.00-$20.00, while feeder heifers traded $15.00-$25.00 lower. Overall, demand remains strong, and calves are still bringing high prices. Slaughter cattle also lost ground today, trading $5.00-$10.00 lower on a strong supply.
