Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers not well test for a market trend. Demand moderate to good. Seller interest moderate. Cattle futures soared earlier in the week, helping to boost demand. However, corn futures have also improved leading to higher cost of gains thus now having a downward effect of feeder cattle.

Source: USDA AMS · Oklahoma City, OK. Prices are as filed, F.O.B. at origin, with the buyer taking freight — they are not comparable to a spot ring price and never enter a barn average. Weights are USDA’s estimates — these cattle had not been weighed when they sold. Delivery months differ between lots; a price for one month is not a price for another. Head is summed from the lots as reported.
