Northern Livestock video auction held their Annual Fall Premier sale today. This is the last of Northern's Summer video sales. Demand for feeder cattle was mostly moderate for light to moderate offerings. The best demand this sale was for light weight calves delivering in November and December that can be developed into yearlings. Weaned calves also saw solid premiums again this sale as buyers showed stronger demand for late delivery calves. CME positions have seen some positive movement over the past few days spurring demand for some calves. Yearling demand was moderate, however prices were softer than last month. Market activity was mostly moderate to active throughout the day with bidders on the phone, ringside, as well as over the internet. Cattle weaned over 45 days were left untagged. Most of these offerings sold for November and December delivery. The percentage of PO's was higher this sale as some buyers passed bids in hopes market prices will rebound going forward. Cattle tagged as Value added were enrolled in two or more programs and had to be verified by a 3rd party. The largest premiums given were for cattle sold as All Natural, NHTC and GAP combined. Value added premiums were not as aggressive this sale as many buyers report they have filled their contract obligations.
