Northern Livestock video auction held the Annual early fall premier sale over the past two days. Demand for all feeder cattle was good to very good for moderate to heavy offerings. Heifer calves sold on very good demand this sale. This sale featured a large section of replacement type heifers and buyers showed mostly good to very good demand for high quality heifers suitable to enter a breeding program. Heifer calves sold mostly higher than last sale. Demand for heavy weight calves was very good and mostly steady to firm compared to last months sale. Yearling demand was mostly good but prices were not as high as last months sale on steers or heifers. Buyers were active throughout the 2 day sale as they bid actively on all classes of feeders. Demand for late delivered calves was very good as several buyers purchased these offerings to develop into yearlings. Cattle weaned over 45 days were left untagged. Most of these offerings sold in November and December. The percentage of PO's was light this sale as historically high prices were seen. Very good demand was seen for Value Added cattle that were 3rd party verified. Cattle tagged as Value added were enrolled in two or more programs and had to be verified by a 3rd party. The largest premiums given were for cattle sold as All Natural, NHTC and GAP combined. Market activity was very active throughout the sale.
