Northern Livestock video auction held the Annual Early Summer special Sale today and demand for all feeder cattle was good to very good for light to moderate offerings. Spring born calves and yearlings both sold with good to very good demand. Calves that were heavier than 650 lbs and delivered early were met with very good demand and found many bidders. Light weight calves, suitable to develop into yearlings, that delivered later in the fall, also saw very good demand. Weaned cattle were left untagged. Most of these offerings sold in November and December. Additionally, buyers showed stronger demand for calves that received two rounds of preconditioning shots over calves with only branding shots. The percentage of PO's was light this sale as historically high prices were seen. Very good demand was seen for Value Added cattle that were 3rd party verified. Cattle tagged as Value added were enrolled in two or more programs and had to be verified by a 3rd party. The largest premiums given were for cattle sold as All Natural, NHTC and GAP combined. Market activity was very active throughout the sale.
