As filedNorthern Livestock video auction held a special internet auction today. The sale was geared for consignments that were specifically affected by the drought this summer. Drought conditions are being experienced across much of the Inner Mountain west. As a result many cattle are being market weeks earlier than usual and most were represented to come very green. Demand for calves was mostly moderate to good, while demand for yearlings was mostly good to very good. Calves under 600 lbs that could hold off till November delivery showed significantly stronger demand. Bidding was very competitive for these offerings as buyers searched for cattle suitable to go to grass. Many ranches advertised that they were "able to tag to deliver to Canada at buyers expense". All cattle tagged as Value Added were 3rd party verified and were enrolled in more than one program.
