Compared to last week, flyweight steers sold sharply higher on a thin test, 400 to 500 lbs and 600 to 700 lbs sold 10.00 higher with other weights trading mostly steady. Flyweight heifers sold 10.00 higher, with all other weights selling mostly steady. Slaughter cows sold steady to 5.00 higher and slaughter bulls sold sharpy higher. Early week demand was good even with the artic temperatures prevailing across the state. Weigh up was in the buyer's favor. Demand on Friday was also good for slaughter cattle and bred cows as morning temps were around 12 degrees above zero, 30 to 40 degrees better than the day before. Good snowpack at high elevations so grass should be ample in those areas with runoff filling reservoirs. More moisture across the lower pastures is needed to green up the grass this spring. Cattlemen will have to cut stocking rates a lot if mother nature doesn't provide some much-needed moisture. But we all know it does rain after a dry spell!

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Wyoming barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
