First reported feeder cattle sales since before Christmas a market comparison is not applicable. However, a sharply higher undertone was noted throughout the week on calves and feeders. Compared to last Friday, slaughter and feeding cows sold 5.00 to 8.00 higher and slaughter bulls sold 2.00 higher. Quite a few of the cows went back to the country to be placed on feed or developed into rebreeds. Bulk of the bred cows going to out of state ranches as the weather pattern remains very dry with almost no snow accumulation across most of the state, except for higher elevations. Snowpack per NRCS for week Jan 6 is at 92% with basin high of 109% and basin low of 20% at the South Platte basin. Still quite a lot of hay sitting around the state that has not been spoken for.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Wyoming barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
