Compared to last week steers sold 4.00 to 7.00 higher. Heifer calves less than 600 lbs sold 4.00 to 10.00 higher over 600 lbs sold unevenly steady. Slaughter cows sold 5.00 to 10.00 lower with the most decline on breaker cows. Slaughter bulls 8.00 lower. Demand was mostly good for calves and feeders with moderate to good demand for slaughter cattle. That time of year where large receipts of slaughter and feeding cows hit the market with ranches preg checking sending older and most open cows to town. Drought conditions continue across the state. But, on bright note, there is a lot of readily available feed to purchase in western and eastern WY and surrounding states. Heavy supplies of slaughter cattle will probably continue through the rest of the fall. With some cows going on feed for awhile and others straight to the pack. Bulk of the receipts were steers with many ranchers not selling heifers for the time being as they will develop them into possible breeding heifers or market them as feeders after the first of the year.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Wyoming barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
