First reported feeder cattle and slaughter cattle auctions in a couple of weeks a market trend is not applicable. Demand was good for all weights and classes of cattle. Abnormally to moderate drought conditions continue within the state. The last drought is still plainly in-graved in cattlemen's minds, and many are starting to buy hay for late summer and winter feeding. Limited reports of a few cattlemen weaning spring calves to save some grass for the cow. Hay production is average to 30% less on tonnage than last year's bumper crop. Torrington Livestock started there Wednesday sales this week and they are roughly a month earlier than last year start up.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Wyoming barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
