Not enough calves or feeder cattle for a market comparison. However, a higher undertone was noticed on the light supply. Most lots of cattle are heading for summer turnout. Slaughter and feeding cows sold mostly steady with slaughter bulls slipping down 2.00 to 4.00. Demand was good at both reporting auctions. Available feed for livestock should be ok going into the 2024 growing season report NASS. May 1, hay stocks totaled 515,000 tons and increase of 171 percent from the stocks on hand for the same period in 2023. Also, large amount of snow melting back filling reservoirs for upcoming irrigation needs.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
