Compared to last week steers less than 600 lbs sold 2.00 to 6.00 higher, 600 to 800 lbs sold 6.00 lower and over 800 lbs sold steady. All heifers sold 3.00 to 8.00 lower except 400 weights sold sharply higher. Slaughter cows sold 3.00 to 5.00 higher and slaughter bulls sold 5.00 higher. Couple slaughter bulls at Torrington Livestock on Friday averaged weight of 2113 lbs with an average price of 175.08 per cwt heading to slaughter. With calving getting into full swing across the regions cow numbers coming to the sales are in tight supply and helped push the slaughter cattle higher. The USA uses a lot of hamburger meat daily, and it takes a large supply of cows and bulls to fill those needs.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Wyoming barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
