Compared to last week: No comparable sales on feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows sold 3.00 to 6.00 higher and slaughter bulls sold steady. Demand was good for the short run of cattle at both reporting auctions. Rain showers continue across most of the state with some areas receiving damaging storms with large hail. Most hay producers are now done with first cutting of alfalfa with some starting on second cutting. There are several tons of poor-quality alfalfa across the state due to excessive rain during harvest. At least there is feed in the local trade areas to sell or feed instead of having to ship in tons of hay from out of state.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
