First weekly report in two weeks a market trend is not applicable. However, a sharply lower undertone was noted on slaughter cows and bulls. Demand was good for feeder cattle with light to moderate demand for slaughter cattle. Extremely dry conditions in many areas of Texas and Eastern New Mexico have forced ranchers into downsizing large numbers of cattle. With a lot of slaughter type animals hitting the market in Texas has put a negative effect on the slaughter cow and bull market in Wyoming this week. Plus, cattlemen in Wyoming continue to ship cattle off ranches due to dry conditions and high price forages. There are some areas in the state that look good and have had decent rains this growing season.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
