Not enough feeder cattle last week for an adequate market comparison but a higher undertone was noted. Slaughter cows sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher and slaughter bulls sold steady. Demand was good for all classes of cattle sold. Dry weather continues across the state with bulk of the state in D1 (moderate drought) with a few spots hitting the D2 (severe) category. Its hard to believe how much a weather pattern can change in one year. This weeks hay report had quite a lot of reported tonnage as livestock owners are trying to get a jump on procuring winter or even summer feed for there livestock.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
