Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 5.00 to 10.00 higher. Very good demand for steers and heifers this week as the CME Live and Feeder Cattle made good gains, narrowing the basis substantially and painting a much different picture for the fall/winter months than where it was a few weeks earlier. Long strings of yearlings continue to come to town, some grass yearlings as well from droughted out areas that really don't have grass to turn out on. Cattle feeders held out all week for more money, as of this writing just a few trades at 256.00. Rain came to many areas of the region at the end of the week, but grass is very short in the lower 2/3rds of the state, keeping some cattle from being turned out at all and producers adjusting the numbers of cattle they will carry for the year.
