Compared to last week: A much lighter offering of feeder cattle, steers and heifers unevenly steady. Very good demand remains for all weights of steers and heifers. Turnout time has arrived, keeping demand for grass cattle very high. Cattle feeders had to take lower money to sell fat cattle this week, 255.00-258.00. There is much uncertainty in the market currently, as the basis is 10.00 over the futures and the back months are at a level that is not profitable for cattle bought at current market prices.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the South Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
