Compared to last week: Steer calves under 600 lbs 20.00 to 40.00 lower, 600-650 lbs 10.00 lower, 650-700 lbs steady to 5.00 lower. Heifer calves 15.00 to 30.00 lower, instances to 35.0 lower. Yearling feeder steers and heifers 10.00 to 15.00 lower. Moderate to good demand for steer and heifer calves. The volatility continued in the CME cattle futures complex, which is making it very difficult for cattle feeders to decide how much a calf is worth. There is still plenty of interest in buying these good calves but buyers are very cautious. Good demand for yearlings, as the supply is becoming limited, but with the cash fed cattle market backing up to 225.00, and futures contracts lower than that it, is very difficult for cattle feeders to have any confidence that what they buy won't be way too high the next day.
