Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 6.00 to 12.00 higher. Very good demand for all weights of steers and heifers. Yearlings continue to come straight off grass to the auctions and are met by eager buyers. Feedyard backgrounded yearlings are being offered as well, these cattle command just as much attention as the grass cattle, albeit dependent upon their flesh condition. Cattle feeders remain very bullish as their outgoing cattle are so highly profitable, cash fed cattle mostly at 242.00-243.00 this week. Corn silage harvest underway as the crops begin to dry down, harvest looks to be large. The weather has been ideal for cattle feeding performance as cool weather moved into the region.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the South Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
