Compared to two weeks ago: Feeder steers 7.00 to 10.00 higher, instances of 15.00 to 20.00 higher. Feeder heifers 5.00 to 10.00 higher. Very good demand for all weights of steers and heifers, the market was incredibly active as there have been few sales due to the Christmas and New Years holidays and buyers were out in force and ready to buy cattle when they are offered. The cash fed cattle market shot higher again, all the way up to 201.00, leaving the CME Live Cattle futures contracts 7.00 under the cash. Cattle feeders paid no attention to the futures contracts as they fail to keep pace with the fundamentals of the cash trades. Just a few auction locations hosted sales this week, that fact helped to fan the flames on the feeder cattle market as cattle feeders want to get cattle bought right now. Large auction receipts expected next week as auction markets get back on their normal weekly schedules.
