Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 2.00 to 3.00 higher. Very good demand for all weights of steers and heifers. Cattle feeders are eager to buy these yearlings when they are offered as the cash fed cattle market continues to hold at levels much higher than anticipated, 10.00 premium to the futures contracts. Cattle feeders are very optimistic as the fed cattle market has moved counter seasonal, they have great hope this will continue as this is the time of the year when fed cattle supplies are the most plentiful, yet packers are having to compete heavily and ship cattle from the southern plains to plants in the north to get their needs met. Slaughter cows 2.00 to 6.00 higher, bulls near steady.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the South Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
