Compared to last week: Feeder steers under 700 lbs 7.00 to 10.00 higher, 700-900 lbs steady to 4.00 higher, over 900 lbs steady to 5.00 lower. Feeder heifers under 650 lbs 5.00 to 10.00 higher, over 650 lbs 2.00 to 5.00 higher. Very good demand for steers and heifers, however the best demand is for those lighter cattle that will reach finished weights in the late winter and early next year. Cash fed cattle up to 193.00, which really added some optimism to producers' mindsets as they are so hopeful for a good, profitable year. The futures contracts still remain well below the cash trade, front month of Live Cattle are 10.00 under the cash, but producers aren't paying much attention to those prices as they instead focus on the strength of the current cash market. The feeder cattle market is incredibly active as supplies are tight and producers are feeling bullish. Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 higher, bulls steady.
